Bewdley Colts Badminton Club trophy delight

Accepting their award at the AGM of the Worcester Badminton Association (WBA), Bewdley Colts Badminton Club team members were delighted to be acknowledged with their award in appreciation of Bewdley Colts and Coach Dave Barnett’s efforts in helping developing players for the badminton court as part of the junior league and county squads of the Worcestershire Schools Badminton Association (WSBA).

Bewdley Colts Coach, Dave Barnett, stated: “The players were over the moon to be presented with their trophies by the WBA and have been smiling ever since.”

Bewdley Leisure Centre, where the Colts train, is currently looking at organising a selection of summer badminton activities during the 2nd and 5th week of the holidays, after last year’s highly successful event which helped sign up a number of new young badminton recruits.

Said Dave: “The county trials were held at Tudor Grange for the U11, U13, U15 and U17 teams. We entered 12 players from across all age groups out of the total of 90 entries from across the whole county. This is a fantastic achievement, best ever and we appreciated by county selectors and organisers.

“We’re now just waiting to hear how we got on, with those successful due to receive letters inviting them into the new squads for this coming September.”

Anyone interested in the club or in taking part in a free taster session should contact Dave Barnett on 01299 402238, or alternatively Bewdley Leisure Centre on 01299 402595.
