Centralised operation working well

Following the launch of a project exceeding £170k, Converged Solutions Ltd (CSL) is continuing to gain positive business growth momentum and an increasing business share of the global convergence solutions market.

The company’s successful commissioning of the first of nine new regional fire control centres, the first being based at Taunton in Somerset, saw CSL install in excess of two thousand outlets as part of their overall installation. A team of eight CSL engineers and key personnel worked on-site from six months to complete the complex installation with the first regional centre, Taunton Fire Control Centre, successfully taking responsibility for all fire emergency support for the South West of England earlier this year; the remaining eight centres across the UK are currently at various stages of construction.

With offices in Bristol and Worcestershire, CSL Director Mark Bridgeman said: “Taunton’s Fire Control centre was a extraordinary project to be involved in, taking a great deal of time planning, designing and costing, with the initial process commencing over two years ago back in February 2006.

“The successful completion of this project clearly acknowledged CSL’s strength and capability to deliver on projects of this scale and it was a great privilege for CSL, as a regional company, to undertake such a significant project within the South West region.”

The project infrastructure encompassed Krone ADC category 6 FTP shielded copper network and OM3 fibre optic cabling, server cabinets and high density patching frames. A total of 2,600 shielded outlets in GOP units or patch panels were installed within a range of server cabinets and frames. A total of 44 cabinets and 8 high-density patching frames are now located within the main equipment room and house the FCC communications equipment.

Following Government review, all 46 existing fire control centres in England will be replaced with regional centres. Constructed and built to exacting standards of security and resilience, each control centre will be networked to provide backup support for each other in the event of busy periods or system problems.

Operating throughout the UK, Ireland, Europe and the United Arab Emirates, CSL is a privately owned convergence solutions specialist and channel partner for Hitachi Data Systems, providing network platforms to support data networks, IT, telecommunications, security and storage area networks (SAN).

With CSL employee numbers continuing to swell to meet demand, the future is extremely positive for this rapidly growing UK convergence solutions specialist.
