Cheese and wine supports local community |

Local independent retailer Harry Tuffins have organised a fund-raising cheese and wine evening on Tuesday 6th May at their supermarket in Churchstoke, Powys.
Harry Tuffins General Manager, Mark Williams, commenting said: “We wanted to organise this fundraiser to help Churchstoke Church and also the Friends of Churchstoke School as they are always looking to generate additional funding. When we mentioned our plans to Mentzendorff UK Ltd, one of our premier wine suppliers, they were extremely generous and offered to not only supply sample wines for the evening, but to also provide a brief talk discussing the individual merits of each wine and what the everyday wine purchaser should look for in a good wine.”
Cheese and a selection of biscuits will also share the wine stage, with help and advice as to how best serve the delicate fromage, and with which particular biscuit. Cheese is a firm favourite with most families so understanding the individual merit and distinct attributes of this much-loved fridge favourite is set to be the real bonus of the evening.
“We are always looking for new and interesting ways to raise money for charitable and community events,” said Mark. “Our wine and cheese evening is attracting a great deal of interest and we look forward to slurping and sampling the many grape and dairy delights.”
Tickets for the event cost £5 and are available at Harry Tuffins at Churchstoke.
