Crafty students at HTIS celebrate Royal Wedding |

Pupils from throughout Holy Trinity International School’s Prep celebrated the forthcoming Royal Wedding of Prince William and Kathryn Middleton in a number of ways, including creating a life sized replica of the soon to be bride, and all created from recycled materials.
Head of Prep, Jon Brunt commented: “As we will be on holiday at the time of the Royal Wedding, we wanted the children to be able to take part in the Royal celebrations and also use it as an opportunity to tie it in with our integrated arts curriculum, in which our Y5 and Y6 students studied the paintings of Gustav Klimt, whose work portrays the depth of relationships, physical and emotional beauty and the complexities of love. Miss Middleton’s paper flowers and fashionable wedding hats were lovingly created by our younger pupils.”
Taking part in a pretend wedding feast and discussing ideas of what they would make out of their many recycled materials, the students finished work is the product of a rigorous design and development process, which reflects elements of Klimt’s style.
Said Mr Brunt: “It’s wonderful what they have created from old plastic bottles and papers, fashioned in to shoes and most impressively Kathryn’s wedding dress. Their Royal canvases as part of the wedding celebrations encompassed many romantic elements.”
