Dynamic Midlands business appoints new finance director

Multi temperature supply chain specialists, Oakland International Limited, has appointed Solihull based accountant Mike Tainton to the new post of finance director to help steer the company’s expanding business interests.

Formerly the company’s financial accountant, Mike has worked with Oakland for 10 years starting on day one of trading in1998. “Working with the Oakland team for the last ten years has given me an unparalleled understanding of the company, its people and its brand.” said Mike Tainton. “As a premium UK based 3PL, the company has a healthy and expanding network, delivering daily into retailers, discounters and foodservice outlets such as Aldi, Tesco, Waitrose, 3663 and Nisa. I look forward to working with the rest of the Oakland management team and preparing for the next stage of Oakland’s expansion of their one-stop-shop solution for clients wishing to access the UK.”

Operating across mainland UK, Ireland and Europe, sustained year on year business growth has lead to a need for this new position, helping as it will to oversee the company’s continued controlled growth. Oakland MD Dean Attwell congratulated Mike on his appointment stating: “Mike is a first class accountant, with over 40 years of financial and accounting experience. Having worked with the Oakland brand since inception, he has proved vital in many operational decisions made over the years. Mike will help the company drive forward and complete our business and strategic plans for the future.”

Mike Tainton’s new role will entail heading up the accounts team, forecasting, funding and investment issues. With plans on the table for two new depots by the close of 2008, he will play a strategic part in heading the company’s financial future and initiating those systems required to integrate Oakland’s unique culture throughout their expanding operations.

Living in Solihull with wife and daughter, Mike is an active member of Oakland’s eco-focused Energy and Health and Safety Committees.
