Malvern-based family firm, Resolve Information Technology, is said to be delighted at securing a major contract to supply computer hardware and software to the Netherlands, its first such contract outside of the UK.
Resolve’s Director, Tim Winstanley, said: “This is fantastic news for the Company and also for our team as we continue to grow the business, developing customer relations from initial contract into expanded long-term business.”
With a potential contract worth around £90,000 Resolve has already delivered the first of three consignments to the Dutch virtualisation laboratory with the rest to be made by the end of the year.
Affectionately known as ‘The Beast’ this single machine will take over the traditional role of between five and six servers doing the same job. Said Tim: “Due to the nature of the installation it was essential that we made the system as robust as possible; 2.5 TB of hard disk space spread over eight hot swappable hard disks, four quad core processors, two hot swappable power supplies and 72 Gig of RAM. By using VMWare ESXi, it will take advantage of an enterprise class Hypervisor to run multiple server systems instead of just one.
“The Beast is a powerful server capable of running up to eight virtual servers from this one machine, making it cost effective and a much greener energy efficient system to run.”
Delivering significant cost savings both on the initial installation and in long-term running costs, energy savings will be felt immediately, with its built-in safeguards offering an inherent high degree of redundancy. The Beast is a system which is designed to be around for some time.
