Caught up in the fun and with her heart racing, Converged Solutions Limited (CSL) employee, Mrs Stevie Swift, donned leggings and t-shirt and together with her two sons and a group of friends set off at great speed to raise much needed cash for Cancer Research UK.
The Race for Life event was hosted at The Downs, Bristol on the 17th & 18th May with the charity now hopefully well and truly on target to smash their fundraising goel of £434,000. The 5km course went round The Downs, and the surrounding areas. “It's a fantastic location and we had great weather which was a real bonus.” said Stevie.
“It was a last minute thing to decide to take part but we all really enjoyed it and after doing our final sponsorship calculation of my £350 combined with my friends sponsorship money, we raised a total of £1.500, which is absolutely amazing.
“I would like to thank all my colleagues at CSL and my family and friends for all their support and for helping us raise so much for such a great charity.”
This year around 7,000 women will run, jog or walk a course in the hope of helping more people survive cancer. With events held around the country throughout May, June and July there’s still plenty of time for you to enter an event near you.
CSL director Mark Bridgeman, said: “Stevie is a tenacious character who when she makes up her mind to do something grabs it with both hands and always succeeds. On behalf of everyone at CSL we would like to congratulate Stevie on her latest fundraising initiative and we look forward with great interest as to when and whom she will be raising money for next.”
With a history of charity and community support, CSL staff and engineers who work all over the country from Edinburgh to Falmouth and in-between, the support of this charity event was seen as a great way of involving everyone and making it a real team effort. From office based staff to CSL’s onsite project managers and engineering teams they all helped by sponsoring Stevie’s run. Said Stevie: “It’s incredible, but it really does only take a few people to make a real difference.”
