Raffle raises charity cash

In a little over two hours, £80 was raised for two fantastic Worcestershire organisations, thanks to the generosity of people who attended a recent business showcase event held in Bromsgrove.

The Worcestershire Brain Tumour Support Group (WBTSG) and Primrose Hospice, came together to each accept a cheque for £40 from raffle co-organisers local businesswomen, Debra Turnbull of Astryd Business Consultancy in Worcester and Kathryn Watts, of Rock based Evopr.com.

Said Debra: “We are delighted to have raised so much in such a short space of time and we would really like to thank everyone who bought a ticket.”

The Worcestershire Brain Tumour Support Group (WBTSG) and Primrose Hospice and Cancer Help Centre offers so much more than simply information and support to individuals, families and friends of those affected in any way by a brain tumour or cancer, with diagnosis coming as a huge shock and with so much to take in all at once, that it can often feel as though the bottom of your world has dropped away or that you’re on the biggest rollercoaster ride. Both organisations offer essential and much needed advice and support to patients and families across Worcestershire.

£40 on its own may seem a small amount, but the Worcestershire businesswomen hope, “it will come in useful,” and that they send out the message that not just large donations, but all and every donations counts.

“The winner of the raffle prize has yet to collect her case of wine,” said Kathryn, “but we are in discussions as to when and where she can collect her prize, but I have gently informed her that it’s sitting in my office, so not to leave it for too long?”
