Retail difference reason for 25 years

Clocking up an amazing quarter of a century, Mark Williams General Manager of local independent retailer Harry Tuffins is celebrating twenty-five years of working with the Churchstoke based family firm.

Said Mark: “I can’t quite take it in that I’ve been with the company for twenty-five years as it only seems like yesterday I was celebrating my first decade with Tuffins.”

Helping Mark to mark a quarter of a century, Ruby Delves, daughter of company founder Harry Tuffin together with husband and joint chairman Roy, offered their personal thanks: “Mark’s a real asset to the business and we are extremely grateful for his many years of dedicated service and help in making the business the success it is today. On a personal note Ruby and I would also like to say a personal thank you to Mark for his friendship, support and unwavering enthusiasm and on behalf of everyone at Harry Tuffins, congratulations and here’s to your next twenty-five.”

Based at their head office in Churchstoke, Powys, Mark together with the Tuffins management team have continued to build on the early successes of founder Harry Tuffin through expansion of the company’s retail and forecourt operation along the English, Welsh border, with six shops and petrol stations located at Knighton, Craven Arms, Ludlow, Bishops Castle, Cleobury Mortimer and their head office at Churchstoke still running one of the longest successful Sunday markets and car boot sales in the country.

Said Mark: “It is extremely satisfying to play a small part in such a successful and forward thinking team and I would like to offer my personal thanks to everyone for their support, kind words and gifts.

"I have enjoyed the past 25 years at Tuffins -from starting as ashelf filler to becoming GeneralManager - It has been a real journey! Here's to the next 25! "

Not alone, Mark is just one of a large number of Harry Tuffins employees who have been with the family firm for more than two decades. Harry Tuffins continues a tradition of remaining locally focused and very different from other chain retailers, working closely with staff to build lasting relationships and with many weekly shoppers travelling up to twenty-miles, the company’s reputation for offering great consumer choice at great prices continues to be a strong draw.
