Speller Metcalfe delighted for Boxing Club District Sports Award finals

Tenbury Amateur Boxing Club is celebrating after club founder and head coach, Martin ‘Paddy’ Brennan, was nominated for the Volunteer of the Year Award in the inaugural Malvern Hills District Sports Awards 2010, to be held at Malvern College Sports Complex on Thursday 16th December.

Andy Metcalfe of Speller Metcalfe and Club sponsor, commented: “Paddy has done an amazing job over the last year supporting Tenbury Amateur Boxing Club and I am personally delighted to hear of his nomination which is truly deserved.”

Following a difficult short listing process due to the strength of the nominees, Martin was confirmed as being one of the top two nominees in the Volunteer of the Year category.

Martin ‘Paddy’ Brennan of Tenbury Boxing Club said of his nomination: “I am personally delighted, but also delighted for the club as we’ve all worked so hard to make it such a huge a success. A big thank you to everyone who has helped, and who continues to help and support the club. My personal thanks must also go to Andy Metcalfe from Speller Metcalfe, who is a constant support to both me and the club.”

Thanks to Martin, Tenbury Amateur Boxing Club has over the last twelve months developed substantially, having a positive impact on local children and young people, which has been described as incredible.

Success has already been achieved in 2010 with a number of the Club’s young boxers selected to represent England in a recent match in Glasgow, with young boxer Eddie Kelly being awarded the Gold belt for best contest, out of 68 bouts.
