Taste of the Wyre launches to raise profile of local businesses |
|
A new project to promote local food producers and other rural land based businesses in and around the Wyre Forest area was launched in March.
The "Taste of the Wyre" project, developed by the Bewdley Development Trust and supported by Grow with the Wyre and Transition Bewdley, aims to showcase the extensive range of quality produce and products available in the area which form part of the rich tapestry that is the Wyre Forest.
Needing a visual brand, logo and website, the project under the guidance of Peter Miller of the Bewdley Development Trust, and in keeping with the local focus of the Taste of the Wyre, employed the services of local graphic designer, Steve Pitt of Steve Pitt Graphic Design.
Peter Miller said, "We were looking for a designer who was able to capture the spirit of the project and to link local produce, the landscape and local markets. Steve quickly produced a strong concept and was able to work quickly and efficiently with a local web designer and ourselves to meet a very short funding deadline."
Taken by the project and delighted to be involved, Steve Pitt stated "From the start, with Peter talking about the idea and explaining the dynamics and rationale behind the "Taste of the Wyre" project and I really wanted to be part of project.
“As I understood more and more about the diversity and unique qualities that make the Wyre Forest area so special, it all fed directly into the design of the brand and its visual identity. Discovering more about the area and its many businesses, I was eager to reflect this in the ‘Taste of the Wyre’ brand, with the whole process being exceptionally rewarding. I feel privileged to have been invited to work with a project that supports both the development and sustainability of local rural business."
The Taste of the Wyre is an ongoing, developing project which needs local producers and businesses to get involved and contribute to its future expansion and growth.
Rural businesses interested in joining the project can visit www.tasteofthewyre.co.uk or speak with Peter at the Bewdley Development Trust on 01299 405516.
Said Steve: "We have already had feedback from some local producers as to the future possibilities of the Taste of the Wyre. The addition of local recipes and events are just a couple of the ideas we may include to enhance the project and help promote the brand."
