The Worcestershire Youth Jazz Orchestra, well-known and loved by many who enjoy the big band sound, will once again be performing at the Artrix Theatre, Bromsgrove on Wednesday 14th July from 7.30pm, with this year’s special quest appearance by Bruce Adams.
Touring Europe for the first time in 2009, WYJO performed in Holland, Germany and Belgium leaving audiences wanting more; the orchestra has now released its first CD, “The Horn Ultimatum’.
WYJO Musical Director Ian Hattersley said: “The Artrix is a fantastic venue and it promises to be an amazing evening once again. Performing this year with Bruce Adams will be incredible and promises to be a superb night for the orchestra and the audience alike.”
Award-winning trumpeter Bruce Adams has worked with a wealth of highly talented artists over the years such as the BBC Big Band, Benny Carter, Jools Holland's Rhythm and Blues Orchestra, Scott Hamilton, Jack Parnell, the Ted Heath Orchestra, Kenny Baker, the Birmingham Royal Ballet, Bob Hope and comedian Freddy Starr.
WYJO, ranked one of the finest jazz groups in the county, continues to build a loyal following amongst jazz music lovers. Said Mr Hattersley: “The orchestra loves what we do, taking pleasure in performing an eclectic selection of arrangements for the audience.”
All aspiring WYJO members are encouraged to audition from an early age, with no minimum age only an upper age limit of 25 years.
