Whyle House Lamb help promote British Food Fortnight

Whyle House Lamb proprietors, Andy and Frances Offer, have teamed up with the new owners of the Kings Head pub in Docklow, near Leominster, Paula and Tony Holland, to deliver local food at its best.

During British Food Fortnight, Andy will be available to answer questions about his lamb at the Kings Head, Docklow between 7.30 and 8.30pm every evening, meeting customers and talking about his lamb and his business. “We know people like to hear about how the food they are eating was produced.” said Andy. “British Food Fortnight is a great opportunity to spread the word about how good local food can be – and of course, to get feedback from our customers.”

Pub owners, Paula and Tony only took over the Kings Head in March this year but have already set about developing the menu to include quality locally sourced produce.

“We understand how important quality is to our customers,” said Paula, “with genuine interest in knowing they are eating good local food. We welcome a lot of folk who are on holiday, and they really love the idea that our menu includes food produced just minutes down the road. During British Food Fortnight we’ll be doing a different special lamb dish each night for our customers to try.”

As local farmers, Andy and Frances had been looking for a good local outlet, somewhere that would really be interested in their lamb quality and in knowing how it had been reared. Said Andy: “We believe that we’ve found a great opportunity in the Kings Head pub.

“Whyle House Lamb is produced on our farm just 3 miles from the pub, so you can’t get much more local than that. We’re absolutely delighted to be supplying Paula and Tony.”

Paula added: “With Tony and I living in the area, we like to do our bit to promote and support local food producers, and with many of them also our customers, it’s a great testament to the quality of our food.”

British Food Fortnight runs from the 19th September to 4th October.

The Kings Head pub can be found at Docklow (post code HR6 0RX) on the A44 between Leominster and Bromyard. Telephone for reservations – 01568 760560.
