25p Stokes church funds

With their Craven Arms shop helping to ‘stoke-up’ church funds, local independent retailer Harry Tuffins has over the last twelve-months helped raise an amazing £389 for the coffers of their local parish church, Stokesay Church in Shropshire.

Harry Tuffins General Manager, Mark Williams, said: “We decided last year that we would begin to sell space on our community notice board with all funds raised donated to Stokesay Church.

“At a rate of 25p per week, the Craven Arms community have continued to use this community facility to promote their local business services, events and group activities, but the difference being is that instead of just promoting and helping themselves, they have also been helping raise funds for their local parish church.”

Posters, classified adverts and community notices can all be found pinned to the board. Reverend Melia Cope commenting about the donation said: “We are genuinely grateful to Harry Tuffins, their staff and to the community for their support of this fundraising scheme.

“Stokesay Church is glad to provide a service to the local community but every year we struggle to raise the funds we need to continue this work. Through donations from fundraising initiatives such as Harry Tuffins, we can maintain this work in support of our parishioners and also the wider local community.”
