A fishy experience at Morrisons |
|
Holy Trinity International School pupils from Year 6 thoroughly enjoyed a morning at Kidderminster retailer Morrisons, undertaking a number of tasks within several key departments at the store.
Pupils had the opportunity of seeing first-hand how fresh fish are skilfully prepared as well as how to spot the telltale signs of really fresh fish and those not so fresh!
Head of Holy Trinity International School Prep, Mr Jon Brunt, said: “This type of active learning experience is extremely powerful as it helps the children to absorb enormous amounts of information as well as making the whole educational experience so much fun.”
The greengrocer explained the importance of eating healthily and the benefits of eating 'five a-day’, before the children headed off to the butchers and the experience of the chill room (0 — 1°C).
Having survived their cold experience they then went on to make their very own beef burgers before their last stop, the bakery, to see how doughnuts are made and finding out how they ....get the jam inside, before sampling a doughnut for quality control!
Said Mr Brunt: “It was simply marvellous for the children; they learnt so much and had a wonderful time in the process.”
