Free breakfast as bells ring at Eastham Church 6:30am! |
|
The bells will be ringing out in the Teme Valley on Thursday morning at 6.30am from Eastham Church. This follows a tradition on Ascension Day that is practiced in churches and cathedrals throughout the country.
The bell ringers from Tenbury Wells relish any opportunity to peel the bells at Eastham which are a fine example of a country church complete set of bells.
After the bell ringing and a short service in the church there will be a hearty breakfast at the local village hall which is free for all who are up early enough to attend. This is provided by the Clock house from Tenbury Wells. The church of St Peters and St Pauls Eastham has recently received an English Heritage grant to restore the features of the 12th century Norman church. There is an enthusiastic group who work throughout the parishes of Eastham, Rochford, Hanley, Kyre and Stoke Bliss to keep the community tradition alive.
