Bewdley Colts Badminton Club reorganise for new players

Bewdley Colts Badminton Club, currently recruiting new members, will be reorganising for the rest of the summer in readiness for an anticipated influx of new young players this coming September.

Bewdley Colts Coach, Dave Barnett, stated: “We’ve decided to combine the first and second groups and now start at 10:00am Saturday mornings.

“Shuffling the groups in this way will allow players to move up and open-up new training opportunities for younger and less experienced players, enhancing their skills and with the intention of re-establishing the Saturday 9:00 am beginners session with new players in September.”

Bewdley Leisure Centre is currently looking at organising a selection of summer badminton activities during the 2nd and 5th week of the holidays, after last year’s event proving highly successful, with a number of new young badminton recruits now enjoying playing the game.

The planned new Worcester Badminton Performance Centre, part of the Badminton England initiative, is already underway, and in association with Bewdley, will initially set up links with the club. Dave has put forward three players for consideration who will work with a total of 8 invited players from around the county based on personal merit, training at the Worcester University campus, starting in May until December.

Anyone interested in the club or in taking part in a free taster session should contact Dave Barnett on 01299 402238, or alternatively Bewdley Leisure Centre on 01299 402595.
