Entries flood in to support community Fun Day

Already attracting a huge amount of exhibitor interest and securing bookings from as far afield as Yorkshire, the Midlands, Cheshire, Worcestershire and Pembrokeshire, this year’s Charity Fun Day will again be held at local independent retailer Harry Tuffins Country Park, Churchstoke, Powys on Sunday 3rd August 2008.

Helicopter flights, motorbike displays, vintage cars, steam rally, children’s rides and numerous shows the event is one for the whole family to enjoy. Richard Whittall, operations director at Harry Tuffins said: “Every year we start taking Fun Day bookings earlier and earlier which is great as it hopefully indicates another bumper Fun Day year. We want to ensure everyone enjoys themselves and that our exhibitors and visitors have a fantastic day out. The money we raise for charity would not be possible without the generosity of our visitors, many of whom travel a long way to join us.

“This year our target is to raise £30,000 and as we witness visitor numbers grow year on year, fingers crossed this will be achieved.”

Annually the event raises thousands of pounds for charity. In 2006 they raised in excess of £21,000 and in 2007 a staggering £27,000 distributed to over 100 local community and charitable organisations including schools, churches and small groups as well as a £2,000 donation to Birmingham Heartlands Hospital to help cystic fibrosis sufferers and a £3,000 donation to Hope House children’s hospice in Oswestry.

In addition to arena displays visitors can enjoy the park’s many animals including highland cattle, deer, horses, sheep, pigs, doves, peacocks and an ever-growing population of Water Buffalo!
