F1 goodies raise cash for local support group WBTSG

The Worcestershire Brain Tumour Support Group (WBTSG) is £203 better off thanks to an F1 inspired fundraising initiative by local pole dancer, Pam Waterlow, who together with her partner Steve, travelled to Monza, Italy to meet and collect signed Williams and Renault F1 memorabilia goodies before then auctioning them off to the highest bidder.

Pam from Droitwich, who loves everything racing, dreamt the idea up to combine her F1 passion and at the same time raise awareness of the WBTSG and after writing to all the F1 teams couldn’t believe her luck when she received her invite to meet both the Renault and Williams F1 teams.

Bubbly Pam, previously danced her way back to health following the diagnosis of a benign Meningioma brain tumour in early 2008, has been raising money for the WBTSG ever since as a way of giving something back to the organisation who offered her help, friendship and support throughout her treatment and recovery.

Said Pam: “It was a great way of raising awareness for the WBTSG, whilst satisfying a personal F1 ambition. Steve and I couldn’t wait to meet the teams who were so generous and agreed to sign a WBTSG polo-shirt and a Union Jack flag to support the group which we then auctioned off with a number of other F1 goodies to raise funds for the group. The whole experience was fantastic. Thanks to everyone for all their support and helping raise £203 for this great organisation.”

The WBTSG was set up following the death of Frances Wormington, the ten year old daughter of Rosemary and John Wormington, who sadly lost her battle against a malignant brain tumour at the end of 2007. The support group continues to grow, offering much needed support and information to brain tumour sufferers and families from across the region.

Pam, together with other WBTSG supporters are in festive mood selling Christmas cards and a host of other merchandise to raise awareness and funds for the ongoing work of the organisation.
