Fuel costs tamed for consumers |
|
With concern intensifying over the cost of fuel, the rural economy along the English, Welsh border is continuing to enjoy a financial leg-up thanks to local independent retailer Harry Tuffins who is maintaining its 10p a litre off fuel voucherscheme for shoppers.
Making a real difference to the border economy, family run Harry Tuffins has a longstanding tradition of passing on cost savings to Tuffins shoppers. The company’s 10p voucher is given out when you spend £60 on sales of shop groceries .The voucher has proved very popular amongst regular shoppers, who are now worrying the company will withdraw the discount scheme.
Operations Director, Richard Whittall commenting on the retailer’s decision to continue the voucher scheme said: “Harry Tuffins has operated the 10p loyalty voucher scheme for shoppers for the last two years, but as fuel prices continue to rise there has been great concern we may withdraw and scrap it all together. I am happy to confirm to all our customers that Harry Tuffins will continue with the scheme and that we have no plans to either withdraw or amend the scheme in any way.”
Major supermarket chains are already feeling the effects of increased distribution costs and overheads, together with global food shortages visibly pushing prices up at the tills, Harry Tuffins’ fuel voucher discount scheme is a welcome relief to a local economy where twenty miles to get the weekly groceries is the norm. Said Richard: “We understand the reality of increased prices on fuel and food for our customers. Through the continuation of our fuel vouchers we will help to keep our pump prices low and support the company’s long-term financial future.”
Locally sourced products and reduced energy costs have helped keep Harry Tuffins competitive, facilitating the company’s ability to compete with national supermarket chains and larger retailers.
