Kidderminster Harriers join End of Term moving party

Hard working teachers at Far Forest Lea Memorial CE Primary School all needed to move classrooms by the end of term, ready for the new academic year ahead, but how would they transfer all their desks, chairs and teaching equipment without causing chaos to the children and the school in the last week of term?

In came Kidderminster Harriers who said they would be delighted to help and use the school’s moving party as part of their team building training programme and as part of their work within the community.

Headteacher of Far Forest, Mrs Tara Collins-Bullock, said: “Due to the nature of the move we couldn’t do it during normal school hours, as many of the items we needed to move were large and bulky and quite heavy, so when the Kidderminster Harriers kindly said they would help staff and parents, we were simply overjoyed!”

In just over two hours between 3pm and 5pm, every classroom was moved with desks, chairs and classroom furniture now in their new homes, and all sports equipment now nestled in their new PE shed, moving party helpers then sat down to share a fish and chip supper in the school’s staff room.

Said Mrs Collins-Bullock: “It was amazing and so organised with people moving tables and chairs from one room to the next. Can I say a huge thank you to all our staff and everyone who helped; the parents and especially to Kidderminster Harriers for all their help, support and laughter making it such an enjoyable end to the school term. We now wish all our children and parents a relaxing and enjoyable summer break.”

Kidderminster Harriers will return to Far Forest School in September to continue their programme of after-school football training and coaching with the school’s pupils.
