New head settles in at Far Forest School

Far Forest Lea Memorial CE Primary’s new Headteacher, Mrs Tara Collins-Bullock, joined at the beginning of the summer term but is already a familiar face to pupils and their families.

Having initiated a number of new school programmes, Mrs Collins has promised that: “This is only the beginning,” with many more planned for the second half of the summer term. “Everyone has made me feel so welcome. Can I thank the whole school community for making the last few weeks an absolute delight and pleasure, and as we approach half term I wish everyone a relaxing and enjoyable school break.”

Previously holding the headship of Pebworth School, a rural village school in Stratford-Upon-Avon, Warwickshire, Mrs Collins’ direct and open approach of working closely with teaching staff and the PTA, together they are continuing to offer the excellent range of additional curricular and extra-curricular activities for the children to enjoy; new weekly yoga sessions, extended sports lessons, midi fencing, athletics in conjunction with Stourport Athletics Club and with the help of the school’s PTA launched a new gardening programme for the children, entering this year’s Bewdley in Bloom.

Said Mrs Collins: “The whole school team and PTA have been absolutely amazing, they have helped me to settle in and made me feel most welcome. Through the PTA we have been able to organise the planting of a new butterfly garden. Children have decided on which type of garden they would like to plant around the school grounds, it’s wonderful.”

The next big event on the school’s calendar is the Classic Car and Bike Show Medieval Summer Fair at the Callow Hill Show Ground on Sunday 27th June, which will also feature a medieval re-enactment as well as displays. For more information please contact the school on 01299 266316.
