Primaflow, one of the UK’s leading suppliers of plumbing and heating materials has launched MLfP; a product that simply is what it states, Multi Layer from Primaflow.
Multi Layer pipe has been used extensively in under-floor heating systems for many years but
Primaflow is now actively promoting their system to the wider market for general plumbing and heating.
MLfP pipe is easy to bend and importantly “stays bent” leaving a professional looking, clean and hygienic finish to any installation. MLfP pipe does not creep or sag as temperatures rise. Fittings are supplied in brass with a bright nickel plated finish or stainless steel sleeves to complete consistency of appearance. Primaflow’s range of 21 transition fittings make it easy to use MLfP pipe during refurbishment and modernisation programmes in conjunction with most compression joint valves, flexibles and terminals.
Andrew Goodland, Primaflow’s Marketing Director explains: “MLfP delivers the practical convenience of copper without the heavy and unstable price premium over every day plastic pipes such as PEX or polybutylene.”
MLfP pipe is offeredin straight lengths and coils with a choice of press or compression fittings covered by a 25 year warranty. The 5 layer white finished MLfP pipe is initially available in 4 diameters from 16mm to 32mm and contains an inner core of aluminium. This metal core not only provides the oxygen barrier but endows the pipe with its beneficial mechanical properties.
MLfP systems are easier to install than either copper or conventional plastics and will typically require fewer fittings. Pipe can be buried in concrete or plaster without supplementary protection. It expands at about the same rate as copper (just 1/8 the rate of PEX) and the aluminium core is detectable when concealed so no metallic tape need be applied to meet installation regulations.
Although re-usable, MLfP pipe has no scrap value which reduces prospects of theft from sites and vans. MLfP is inherently suitable for use in flame free working areas.
The MLfP production factory is certified internationally including WRAS (certificate 0810010) and KIWA (certificate K50024/01 and K50028/01).
