Speller Metcalfe contracts manager achieves professional and community recognition

 

In a fabulous month, Speller Metcalfe Contracts Manager, Martin Brennan, scooped Fellowship Chartered Institute of Building status and has also been crowned the Malvern Hills Sports Volunteer of the year in recognition of his contribution to the building industry and to his local sporting community.

Martin was awarded a Fellowship of the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) in April, recognising his work undertaken for Speller Metcalfe and his outstanding professionalism within the Building industry.

Having started working in the construction industry in the late 1970's, he has since gained wide ranging experience in both residential and commercial construction. Martin joined the (CIOB) in 2003 and is delighted to have received his fellowship: "Having worked within the industry for many years, receiving CIOB status is the culmination of a lot of hard work and I am extremely proud to have become a CIOB Fellow and I would like to thank the Institute wholeheartedly for their support."

Martin is well practiced at managing both small and large multi-functional projects taking responsibility for all production, commercial and contractual let under various JCT conditions.

Speller Metcalfe Joint Managing Director Andy Metcalfe said: “We are really pleased for Martin; it's been a great year for him so far, and it's nice to see his hard work be recognised, both in terms of leadership within the construction industry and for his work within the local community. To gain CIOB Fellowship status is an indication of Martins dedication and professionalism.”

As a real boost, and selected from over 3000 nationwide nominees, Martin will also be entered into the BBC Sports Personality 'Unsung Hero' Award for his many years of work in running youth rehabilitation projects through the Tenbury Amateur Boxing Club.

A delighted Martin stated: "To have won the Sports Volunteer Award and being entered in the Sports Personality Unsung Hero category has absolutely blown me away because all I've ever wanted to do is to try and improve other people's lives through my work within the community. This is the icing on the cake for me."
