The Friends of Churchstoke School and picturesque Churchstoke Church in Powys have each received the magnificent sum of £230 following a very palatable and successful fund-raising cheese and wine evening held recently at the premises of local independent retailer Harry Tuffins in Churchstoke.
Raising a glass and sampling a cheese or two at the fund-raising event, Harry Tuffins General Manager Mark Williams said: “It was a great evening with many people commenting on the range of wines and cheeses available on the night. We would like to extend our thanks to Mentzendorff UK Ltd, one of our premier wine suppliers for their generosity in providing the sample wines and for giving a very informative talk on the individual merits of a selection of wines available on the night.
“As everyday wine purchasers we all gained a morsel or three of information to take away and digest, with many already putting this newly found knowledge to the test!”
Blue Stilton, Brie, strong Cheddar, Parmesan and the wonderful taste of Wensleydale and cranberry cheese all enjoyed great interest and much nibbling of biscuits as the evening progressed. Presenting Churchstoke Church and the Friends of Churchstoke School with their cheques, Ruby Delves, joint chairman of Harry Tuffins said: “What a lovely evening. I am delighted to make this presentation on behalf of Harry Tuffins who would like to thank everyone who attended the evening and for helping us raise this amazing amount of £460 we know it will be put to good use.”
