Whyle House Lamb at The Kings Head

Whyle House Lamb proprietors, Andy and Frances Offer, were so delighted with their joint promotion with the Kings Head pub at Docklow last Autumn that they’ve decided to do it all again. “The format will be the same as last year,” says Andy. “With pub owners Paula and Tony Holland creating a different, delicious lamb dish each evening, and we’ll be on hand to talk about our farm and the lamb we’re so proud of.”

“Our lamb is still produced just 3 miles away from the pub so you can’t get much more local than that.” says Andy. “And we’re absolutely delighted with the relationship we’ve built with Paula and Tony. We wanted someone who would really care about our lamb and how it’s presented without over dressing it. It’s good honest local lamb produced with attention to detail and to the highest quality standards. Paula and Tony reflect that in the way they cook and serve it.”

Paula and Tony took over the pub about 18 months ago and have worked hard to create an imaginative menu using the best local produce. “We’ve had a busy year.” said Paula. “And we get lots of customers returning and telling us how much they enjoy our food. Having our supplier just down the road means we can be really flexible with our menus and can put on specials like lamb breast or rolled shoulder to complement our standard menu very easily - and if we run out he’s only a few minutes away!”

This joint promotion will be on weekdays starting on Monday 20th September and will run for two weeks during British Food fortnight. Andy will be at the Kings Head, Docklow, each evening to meet the customers and talk about his lamb business. “We know people like to hear about how the food they are eating was produced.” said Andy. “And as an extra this year, we’ll be handing out lamb discount vouchers so customers can try cooking it for themselves.”

British Food Fortnight is from 18th September to 2nd October - http://lovebritishfood.co.uk/whats_happening/
