ESSA President’s Award For Kidderminster School

Holy Trinity School and Sixth Form Centre in Kidderminster has received the President’s Award at the ESSA (English Schools Swimming Association) Primary Schools’ Team Championships at Ponds Forge in Sheffield on Saturday 17th June.

Holy Trinity’s Head of Senior PE Dani Gunn commented: “We were delighted to take six of our students to the ESSA championships to represent the West Midlands at the weekend and after finishing in twelfth place for their freestyle and fifteenth place for their medley relay in the whole of the country, they were awarded the President’s Award for both races, which is a great honour and a fantastic personal achievement for the team.”

The 'President's Award' was introduced in 2023 to recognise the highest placed State-funded school for each event. Apart from organising championships the ESSA’s function is to promote the teaching of swimming in schools. ESSA is a charity, whose patron is Prince William, and part of the Prince’s Charities Forum.

Holy Trinity Headteacher Pamela Leek-Wright added: “It is wonderful that Holy Trinity is able to compete at the highest level, maintaining its excellence in swimming. Thank you to staff, students and parents for their commitment and making attendance at such events possible.”

Head of Swimming Paula Crocker commented: “I’m extremely proud of all our swimmers, they worked incredibly hard and swam brilliantly throughout the event. They represented Holy Trinity School as always, to the highest standard, well done Team.”
