Nursery Swimmers Make a Big Splash for Community Pool Fundraiser

Young swimmers from Little Trinity Nursery in Kidderminster have made an inspiring contribution to Holy Trinity School’s Swimathon 2026, raising funds, building confidence, and proving that even the smallest swimmers can make a big difference.

Taking part during their weekly lessons, children aged just three and four impressed by swimming a remarkable 601 widths collectively, with every child completing at least 20 widths and some reaching an incredible 26. Their efforts have already raised over £200, with donations still coming in.

Gaynor Carter, Nursery Manager at Little Trinity, said:

“We’re incredibly proud of our children. As weekly users of the pool, we see first-hand the difference swimming makes, building confidence, teaching vital water skills, and helping children develop from a very early age.

"Taking part in the Swimathon has been a fantastic way for them to challenge themselves while supporting a facility that means so much to them.”

The Swimathon has brought together pupils from Reception through to Year 9, alongside staff and community users, all working towards refurbishing the school’s much-valued swimming pool.

Swimming teacher Paula Crocker explained: “The Swimathon encourages every child to push themselves, swimming as many widths as they can within their lesson time. It’s been incredible to see Little Trinity Nursery, and all children, demonstrate their determination and enthusiasm.”

She added: “We’re involving the whole school community, from our youngest swimmers through to staff. The support has been fantastic, and it’s wonderful to see everyone coming together to make a real difference.”

The fundraising will support essential upgrades, including a new heating system, improved flooring and cubicles, and vital equipment, part of a wider £200,000 refurbishment project to secure the pool’s future.

For Little Trinity, the impact goes beyond the event itself. Gaynor added:

“Swimming is such an important life skill, especially as families spend more time around water during the summer months. Supporting this fundraiser is about ensuring children in our community continue to have access to a safe, high-quality pool environment where they can learn to swim.”

The Swimathon has already attracted strong backing, with Holy Trinity Fundraisers pledging £5 per participating child, alongside support from Wyre Forest Swimming Club and local schools.

With an initial target of £5,000, and a much larger overall goal, organisers are now rallying the wider community to get involved with a dedicated fundraising page launching in September to maintain momentum.

Paula Crocker added: “So many children and families across generations have learned to swim here. It is amazing to see our swimming community come together to help transform this facility for everyone.”

From first strokes to a shared community effort, Little Trinity Nursery’s young swimmers are helping lead the way, showing that every length truly counts.
